About the Scholarship
Overview
Founded in 2018, the goal of the Dindin Scholars Fund is to support education at the primary and secondary levels in the Philippines. We collaborate with local schools and teachers in San Isidro, Leyte to identify and assist students with outstanding academic and leadership capabilities.
Our scholars are assessed and chosen from three criteria:
-
Financial Need: We work with students exhibiting potential and cover their academic and extracurricular expenses so their skills can flourish.
-
Leadership: Scholars are involved in their school and the greater community. Our goal is to equip motivated students with the skills and platform needed to enrich their community.
-
Academics: Scholars are determined high-achievers who value education and are dedicated to their studies
Scholarship Details

Financial Support
Scholars receive a stipend each year for school projects and miscellaneous expenses. All scholars are able to benefit from a discretionary fund to support school trips and extracurricular activities.

In 2021, this fund was extended to provide COVID-relief support for scholars and their families.

School Supplies
At the start of every school year, scholars are given a package including two school uniforms and one physical education uniform, a new backpack, notebooks, a lunch kit, a geometry set, and pens and pencils. Students in specialized streams needing specific equipment (e.g. STEM students requiring graphing calculators or lab materials) can request for these supplies to be covered by the Fund.

Events and Enrichment Programs
We welcome every new school year with our annual summer camp where students connect with one another, are introduced to the scholarship, and learn leadership skills.
Additionally, we hold events throughout the year partnering with artists, educators, and local community leaders to promote cultural appreciation and avenues for personal growth.

Supporting Network
Our network encompasses alumni, volunteers, and mentors who are dedicated to the success of each scholar. Alumni serve as valuable resources, offering guidance and mentorship based on their own experiences. Meanwhile, our network of volunteers comprises professionals from various fields who generously contribute their time and expertise to provide academic support, career advice, and assistance with post-secondary planning.
Selection Process
Step 1
Nominations
Students from grades 7-12 are nominated by their school. We work with all three high schools in the San Isidro area: San Isidro National High School (SINHS) Main Campus, SINHS San Jose Annex, and SINHS Basud Annex
Step 2
Applications
Prospective scholars fill out the application package for the scholarship. This includes a list of their academic honours, club memberships, volunteer activities, extracurriculars, a copy of their academic transcript, and an essay on how the scholarship will benefit them
Step 3
Interviews
Select applicants will progress to the interview stage. A panel of DSF members will have two separate interviews with each student and their parents/guardians
Step 4
Scholars Chosen
The incoming scholars are chosen for the year. The scholars are notified and invited to attend a summer leadership camp and orientation before the start of the school year
